I know...I know...

Enough of my husband in his Disco shirt. I can read your minds!! But I seriously thought it was funny wanted to give everyone time to see it front page. haha
Anyway, promise to update tomorrow, I'm outta juice tonight!

Mac Daddy J!!!

THIS is what my husband came home wearing last night....

???HAHA???????HAHAHA???????HAHAHA????????

NO this is not what he left the house in!! I'm married to this man so not much surprises me because if you know him you know not much gets under his skin or bothers him, especially when it comes to matching clothes. BUT this...yeah this surprised me, especially when he left the house in a white collared shirt yesterday morning!!

Here's the brief story if you want to believe it. Yesterday there were visitors from Japan that he had to present to at his work. He was to have lunch with this group and then also go out to dinner which is normal when there are people in town. SO he wore one of his nice work shirts to work and NORMALLY he takes an extra shirt to change into after work since he lives too far to come home before dinner. Well sure enough his work shirt got dirty and forgot to bring his after work shirt so this my friends is what one of his co-workers was nice enough to bring him to change into for his dinner at the Country Club. HEHEHE HAHAHA Now apparently this is a much sought after shirt--it was her son-in-law's and must have been all the rage at one time?????????

Anyway, go ahead get all your comments in. It didn't phase him one bit in fact he had 2 other options she brought him one was metallic blue and the other just a plain beige shirt---nope not James not after he saw this one! Oh and he said he couldn't do the metallic blue because it wouldn't have matched his navy blue pants......... ????? That's my hubby! Gotta love him!

FYI he was the hit of the dinner. Everyone loved it especially the visitors and the President of his company, Yoshi, couldn't even look at him without laughing and apparently several tried to get cell phone photo ops. Don't worry I solved that by sending pics to his work this morning already. =)

The name...

Ok we have had a lot of you ask what HER name is going to be. I figured it was time to post the answer so everyone will know. James and I had this name back before Jake was born and decided that since it has stuck with us this long, we must love it and have to use it. So HER name will be...........ALAINA CLAIRE !!!! No it isn't after anyone, no family members this time or anything--we've started our own--just because we like it. I think it is so pretty.

Looks like she will be in our room for several months until we build our addition and have space enough for her to have her own room. I'm the only one who is upset by this but you gotta do what you gotta do and she won't ever know. By the time she is old enough to know she will have her very own room and that is what matters. Here is a taste of her bedding--which yes she will still have her very own bedding from the beginning. =)

Update

Jake & Will
Both the boys were well enough to go to school today!!! If I could show you my excited face I would but taking my own picture and posting it here just doesn't seem right. But WOOO HOOOO!! It's not that I want them out of the house all the time by any means, I am just glad the sickness is gone. We've done this for 2 weeks (at least one kid in my face that whole time) and finally finally the croup is gone!! Please don't ever come back--you are not welcome here! (especially when new baby gets here--stay away)

Uncle Ronnie
My uncle Ronnie is also doing very well. He got to go home this past week and is recuperating there. He is definitely glad to be out of that hospital and so is Charlotte! I even heard through the grapevine... =) that he was up helping her cook the other night. That's what I'm talking about!! Here's to hoping you continue to do well and rest at home!

My mom moving
And finally, my mother is completely moved in next door. After 3 weeks of traveling back and forth with the truck and the van and her car bringing loads up here we finally got it all on Saturday, except for a little bit she went and got on Sunday and cleaned the other house. Nooge and Johnny came and helped my mom and James and Stef even came into town for the event. Doesn't matter who all it took--what matters is it is D-O-N-E!!! Thanks to Nooge and Johnny for making the trip and bringing the trailer and providing your much needed muscle---cuz James is only one man. The boys are excited that Net Net is next door though I don't think they have figured out that she is there all the time, which at this point is good, considering all the unpacking left to do.

That is all for us for now. I am off to enjoy my time while they are at Mother's Day Out---5 hours goes by fast! Have a great day everyone.

7 years ago today....

James and I went on our first date. Wow! how the time has flown!!! 7 years, 3 cities, 4 houses, 4 vehicles, 5 jobs, 3 cats, 4 fish, 4 1/2 years of marriage, a million memories, AND almost 3 kids later......LOOK HOW FAR WE HAVE COME!!! Who would have thought meeting in a bar (about a month prior to this date) and at that we were there with different people that 7 years later this is where we would be. God is Good!!!

I can be louder than you...

Tonight when Mommy was vacuuming the toyroom/living room Jake decided to make his own drum set and bang as loud as he could. He was actually drumming to certain songs. I'm not sure what they were because I was vacuuming and Daddy was taking the pictures and singing with him. Our little drummer boy rockin out to his own tunes....

This was his best drummer/rocker face

What's been going on with us??

Actually, a little bit of everything! But I'm gonna give you the Reader's Digest version and I'll fill ya in later on what else needs to be explained.

Jake

As I mentioned last week, Jake got sick. WELL let me tell you!! Croup is no fun and yes that is what we have had. Thank goodness Will hasn't gotten it, but Jake is JUST NOW starting to feel better and he really isn't completely back to himself yet. So it has been a "I need mommy WEEK" (yeah I know like it isn't always but this is worse that usual). AND Daddy doesn't like it AT ALL when the kids are sick, he can't stand to see them that way, so we've had sick Jake, uptight and worn out Daddy (about the sickness) and worn out Mommy (just because) and of course Will is his happy go lucky self though don't get me wrong he has had to get in his ME time too. Anyway, Jake is getting better and hopefully will be well enough to go back to school on Tues. Uh hello I need my "day out"--that's why they call it that, right?!

My mom moving

So, have I told you my mom bought the house next door and is moving in?! No? Well she is! We're pretty psyched about it, especially the boys. The only thing is getting her moved up here! SO that is what we (myself and James and my mom) have been doing all month so far. Any chance we get we run down to get a load of boxes or furniture or whatever we can get. Anyway, this weekend is the big move and ALL of her stuff will be up here. YAY!! I know she is ready for it because she has been running ragged going between the places trying to pack and get this house ready. BUT we are excited and can't wait til she is up here for good!

Here is Will sweeping out her old garage for her--he is a big helper!

My sweet uncle Ronnie

And last but definitely not least, my uncle Ronnie had to have emergency 4 bypass heart surgery Wednesday morning. This is my mom's brother in law (her sister Charlotte's husband)---for those keeping up. =) So our family is still reeling from the fact that happened. When I say sweet uncle he would really shoot me if he saw that which he probably will at some point SO it really is more like fun, hilarious--you know the "cool uncle". That is what he is but for these purposes since he is in the hospital still I'm calling him my sweet uncle!! So Ronnie has been in critical care until today and he FINALLY got to go into a regular room. They are still working out a few things after surgery but I know he is glad to be out of that POD in critical care and I KNOW my aunt Charlotte is glad he is out of there. Please pray for him to heal and get stronger each day. Hopefully he will be able to go home soon!! Love you Ronnie!

SO that's been our last week and hopefully it will slow down a bit after this week. I'm so excited for FALL and cool weather to be here. Bring it on!!

Look what I found mom!

Will decided to peruse the refrigerator this morning and here is what he found while I was tending to his brother. He totally seized the moment and what could I do? I had tried to feed it to him earlier to no avail, but he then decides a couple of hours later it might be yummy. So spoon and all was still in there sitting in the refrigerator and what could I say but "go for it!" and I'll snap a few pics cuz you do look pretty darn cute. See for yourself...

And just to make sure it's all gone, let me turn it up and see!
Next step--take off my shirt and lick the excess---oh yeah--yuuuummy!

Where's the boat?

VOTE, I SAID VOTE!!
Today is school day and of course, Jake is sick. Not bad sick just a little cold BUT he has a fever so no school for him. When school time comes around it's like he's a magnet for whatever germ is out there and his body magnifies it. So none of the other kids are that sick but he always gets a little something here, little something there. Aggh! Can't we find a way to keep them to ourselves!

Anyway, I digress, Jake and I took Will to school and no Jake didn't go in and infect everyone. After that I told Jake that Mommy needed to go vote. He said you can sit and I'll push. I was like what?? Anyway, I tried to describe to him what it was going to look like when we got there and ended up telling him I was going to go to a big computer and touch the screen and that was Voting. (it's the Nashville Mayoral runoff election--in case you were wondering). I even made him look at my lips while I said the word Vote so he would understand what I was saying.

STILL when we got to the school where I vote--he said "wait Mommy, where's the boat?!"

HA!! I said sorry son that is not what we are doing--much to his dismay--he went in with me to vote, where there was NO boat--and he was none too happy about it.

We came back out to the car and he said "now we get to go to the boat?" I just said no baby we will have to do that another day. What else can you say??

My sick baby wanted a boat so we might have to create one today at home. =)

Playdate with our cousin!

Friday, Holly and I had decided we needed to get the boys together for a playdate. Her son, Brian Jr, is about 7 months older than Will. This is James's cousin Brian's wife and son. If you've been to birthday parties---you've seen them and their girls--they are always there!! The boys never get together alone, because at family functions there are always lots and lots of kids. So we went to Dragon Park over by Vanderbilt. I think the Spence boys might have been too much all at once for little Brian. (just kidding--he was tired) I think all in all they had a good time. I know Will and Brian would have stayed in the swings all day and fallen asleep if there hadn't been a line behind us to get on them. =) Mickey D's was yummy too. At least there Jake made Brian laugh with his crazy noises.

I of course forgot my camera, so you can check out the pictures Holly took and put on her blog--click HERE.

We look forward to the next playdate of the Cart/Spence boys!!! Our new "friends" as Jake calls them like he has never seen them before. haha

I had to share this...

So I received this in an email today. How did they know all of this?? Has someone been spying on me and reading my mind?! This is just RIGHT ON and hilarious at the same time!! Honey if you read this take notes! =)

9 WORDS WOMEN USE

1. Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2. Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a 1/2 hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3. Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
4. Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
5. Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing.(Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)
6. That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7. Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question or faint, Just say you're welcome.
8. Whatever: Is a women's way of saying F--- YOU!
9. Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to #3.

First day of school

With their backpacks--ready to go!!

Both boys started Mother's Day Out on Tuesday. Jake did go last year but this is Will's first year to go. They were excited and Jake wanted to see all of his friends. The first day was a success!!Aside from Will not taking a nap, he had a big time playing with the kids in his class and ate his lunch like a big boy. I was so proud. Jake got to see his friends and he had a great day too. Mommy?? What did Mommy do? mostly caught up on much needed housework and got to actually work some too (SLAH). There will be a few months of that until #3 comes and then I will have another little helper here at the house while the boys go off to school. For now I am going to enjoy my few moments of peace.

Oh and today was actually day#2 and this time of course both cried because someone else in the room was crying--started in Will's room. Jake got upset before he even got to his room and I had to drag him there all because the kid in Will's room was crying--don't they know that isn't allowed at drop off?? BUT all was well, seconds after I was gone they both were fine and Will even took a nap today. Yay for him! Jake is just ready for music time which they don't attempt the first week so he will get to start that next week. Our boys are growing up--it is crazy how fast it happens! Pretty soon they'll be going to Big School (aka kindergarten). Now I'm not sure I'm ready for that, but I have a couple of years...

Surprise!

Two of the original band members from the Floating Men

I surprised James with a trip to see one of his favorite bands from college last night for his birthday AND a night away from the house. We went out of town to see the Floating Men perform and met up with couple he has been friends with since college. I did tell him about the concert in advance but he didn't know about Jay and Cassie until they showed up at our hotel!! He was surprised and excited because we haven't seen them for a couple of years. We went out for dinner and then to the concert. A good time was had by all! nuf said. Happy Birthday, baby, hope you enjoyed it! (from the looks of the pics--its a no brainer)

Us with Jay and Cassie (yea so I blinked)

And later on that evening......

Get all your comments and looks in cuz you won't see this often from us! HA
I must say I didn't add some of the more questionable pictures since this is our FAMILY blog! =)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Doesn't get better than this on your birthday! We love you Daddy!!

1st Vanderbilt Game!!

Jake got to go to his very first VU game tonight. He had a big time. He actually did really really well. We have season tickets with my dad and we decided it's time to finally bring him. It's not something we would do every game but he enjoyed it all. He really liked that there were hot dogs, popcorn and peanut M&M's, then Veggie Tales came out during half time and even fireworks after the game. He also got good at shaking the metallic gold shaker saying "Go Vandy!" Don't get me wrong--he was ready to go home in the 1st quarter (after all the food was gone) but with lots of diversions we made it through til the end. He even made a friend in front of us that was his age and they were able to annoy those around us together which was great. (no really they were fine) AND to top it off Vandy won! Yay!

Feeding Frenzy

Here is what it looks like when you try to bring any food near the boys without offering them some too! They are like little baby birds with wide open mouths begging for food and they just show up out of nowhere.... GET YOUR OWN FOOD! haha--you know I am kidding well that is until they CAN get their own food then its fend for yourself. (is that mean?)

Oh and don't say anything about my wall--I've still yet to figure out what I am putting there and yes the lampshade is crooked--that's Will for ya.
