Did you know? and a Question???

First off did you know that there are 90 words in the dictionary that begin with the letters "pt". That is right--think about it---how strange is that. It's funny how we go through life knowing how to say words but sometimes we have know idea that there are silent letters at the beginning or somewhere in the word so therefore we don't know the proper spelling of a word. Yes I said SILENT letters. You know who you are. Just a little education---here are a few examples:

Pterosaurs (ˈtɛrəsɔr), is the same thing as a pterodactyl (tɛrəˈdæktɨl) which was a winged dinosaur.

Pteranodon (tɨˈrænədɒn) A winged reptile that was toothless like modern birds that lived during the time of the dinosaurs.

pteridophyte (tuh-rid-uh-fahyt) A vascular plant that reproduces via spores instead of seeds like ferns.

pteropods (
tĕr'ə-pŏd') Another name for a sea butterfly.

*Kim I hope you enjoyed that....hee hee! Took me awhile but I try not to let you down. I see you laughing too Misty and Stef you should be proud of me.

NOW for my question.......

Who remembers Monchhichi's???????

I need to know people. James brought these things back from Japan for the kids and tells me I should remember them from my childhood....I don't. So I need to know who does before I officially tell him he was the only one who knew about them from some obscure place. I mean what kind of a name is that anyway??? Let me know....

I vaguely remember them but since James is older than us maybe they were really big when we were babies. Ha. I just realized how that sounds. Sorry James. :-)

Kind of like my shrinky-dink moment this week. A what? Then I got the, UGHHHH YOU DON"T REMEMBER SHRINKY DINKS? No, I don't. I don't think we had the funding for shrinky dinks at my little elementary school. ha.

Ha! Yes i did laugh heartily when I read this little tidbit here. Interesting how most of the words that start with a "pt" have to do with dinosaurs or odd plant or animal life. Umm and my excuse for the Monchichis: James is just old. I definitely only know about them from I Love the 80s Strikes Back on VH1; great way to learn about our history.

There was a cartoon show about mon-chi-chis back in the day - yes, it was totally our generation. If I remember correctly, they look almost like the little gizmo from Gremlins.
